Isokuru ja Uhriharju / The DeepCanyon and The SacrificeHill

Pyhätunturi / The HolyHill

It was a very windy day
I climbed on top of the the GoldenHill
The first of the HolyHills
It was hard to stand up in the wind
I enjoyd the sun warming my skin
And the wind roaring around me
Ripping my clothes

In the west I could see the other two
The second one was called The God's Hat
And behind that
Was the greatest of them all
The WitchHill

Today I would walk trough The DeepCanyon
Which lies between The GoldenHill and The God's Hat
They say it's the deepest canyon in Finland
I can believe that

After doing some unpurposed clift hanging
I found the path leading to the canyon
At the mouth of the canyon
They were trying to stop me

Yeah, right
I'll take this as an invitation
To an adventure

At first
The canyon is actually two smaller canyons
The BearCanyon and The LampioCanyon
I couldn't translate "lampio" to anything clever
The google told me
That it is just a rare surname in Finland
Like every fifth person in Finland has a rare surname
Anyway
Lam-pi-o without o is a pond
And shovel without m

The path leads the traveller
On a narrow and high hill
Between these smaller canyons
Before they join to each other
To make The DeepCanyon

This narrow high hill
Surrounded by canyons
Is called The SacrificeHill
They say
The old Sami people used to come here
And sacrifice for the spirits
To get some hunting luck

I don't wonder why they came here
It really feels like a sacret place

I stand quiet
My eyes closed
Sensing the old air
The old energy
I leave a piece of my granolabar for the spirits
And ask them protection
Before I continue my journey

The path to the bottom of the canyon
Is really steep and slipery
Where there is stairs at summer time
Is now just an icy slide
When I'm slideing down
Way too fast
And saving my self from couple 90 degree turns
I wish I had a GoPro

At the bottom lies an other sacred place
(Well dah, this is The HolyHills)

The frozen waterfall and pond
Called The HolyWaterfall of Baptism
And The Holypond of Baptism

Like the whole hillside area
This was also a sacred place for old Sami people
So when the Christians came
And wanted to give a baptism to Sami people
They fulfill the rite in the holy water of the waterfall

In the waterfall
I found an icecave
As a kinda small person
I was able to crowle in

Standing in the cave
I could feel
The holy water dripping on me
It was a kind of baptism
It felt nice
I thanked God for leading me to this place
And protecting me on my way

As I walked further to the canyon
Sun started to set
And shadows woke up around me
The moon came to keep me company
I could feel the evening magic
All around me

As I walked home
The night had already come
And the old God send me His regards

A thought came from my hearth
Full of love

I'm really lucky
Blessed
